My day job versus my passion....

I enjoy many aspects of my current job. I now supervise a Respiratory Therapy department for a local hospital in Southern Illinois and I’m thankful to have a job. Most of my time is really spent working with staff with focus on patient care. I do get to the floor (direct patient care) on occasion, but not as much as I used to. I love working with patients! It’s such a rewarding feeling to take care of people. Since I started working in healthcare in 2006 I have always been on the treatment side of patient care. In 2010 I completed my graduate work in Community Public Health, and have a strong passion for prevention of health related issues. My passion is to work in a medical care facility as a health educator. I want to educate each patient on their diagnosis and how it may change or affect their lifestyle, as well as attempt to prevent illnesses by informing and educating people about health related topics. I hope to work closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other staff to create educational programs.
